Media Facade Academy

16.03.2020 - 27.03.2020

Etopia Center for Art and Technoly hosts the the fifth edition of Media Facade Academy, an intensive two-week training programme to be held from the 16th to the 27th of March 2020. Zaragoza Knowledge City Foundation and the Zaragoza City Council organize this programme, with the collaboration of Azkuna Zentroa.

Both Etopia and Azkuna Zentroa have unique media screens and share the goal of encouraging and promoting the creation of specific art works for these digital interfaces. Media Facade Academy offers training in diverse matters related with this specific medium and offering a space for exploration and experimentation with new media art.

Media Facade Academy is aimed at artists and creators, professionals or students who wish to acquire knowledge of the use of the Media facade of Etopia with the aim of conceiving and developing an unpublished work that will be exhibited there.

Workshops and broadcasting tests

The format of the Media Facade Academy is eminently practical and oriented towards the development of works for this medium. To this end, we will have the participation of the new media artist Néstor Lizalde as tutor of the academy. Rebeca Bazán, María Blasco Cubas, Florencia Aliberti and Borja Holke (Holke79), artists and researchers familiar with audiovisual media, will offer experimental workshops to explore different possibilities of working with the digital device. In addition to these workshops, students will have autonomous work spaces, tutorials and broadcast tests on the facade for the development of their personal projects.

Azkuna Zentroa will offer the participants the possibility of creating woks for the ‘Sun’ screen in the atrium of the building, through an ad hoc call whose conditions will be announced during the course of the training in Etopia.

Registration for this programme is now open and available here through the following link until the 1st of March 2020. The open call is in Spanish only, as training is only provided in this language.
