Oulu University of Applied Sciences

Oulu University of Applied Sciences (Oamk) educates genuine and competent professionals for the needs of working life and has approximately 9,000 students and 700 staff members. Oamk serves the needs of the working and economic life and culture, and maintains the diversity of polytechnic education in Northern Finland. Alongside teaching, research, development and innovation work (RDI work) is the second basic task of the university of applied sciences. The aim of the RDI work is to support the development of the Oulu region and the whole of northern Finland by providing a new competent workforce, by supporting business activities, by developing innovation activities and by increasing international interaction. RDI work is steered by the focus areas and development targets defined in the Oamk strategy 2015: culture, cross-media and ICT. The active research, development and innovation as well as close international links help the whole university to success on these goals.

The role of Oamk is to lead overall activities of the technical research, development and implementation. The school has expertise in Social Media, AR, games and gamification. Oamk will develop and test the network and elements and ensure that it is ‘agile’ i.e. able to incorporate new elements should they become available in the life of smARTpalces. The principal outputs from Oamk technical activities will be (a) the delivery of smARTplaces digital architecture including the app (b) delivery of the smARTplaces digital archive that will contain all European partner exhibitions and all art selected for smARTplaces competitions. The outputs will be delivered by Oamk to requirements specified by the other partners.
